Stu Keroff is a Minnesota teacher renowned for founding student Linux clubs to close the digital divide. He launched the Asian Penguins at Community School of Excellence and later the Penguin Corps at Aspen Academy and Lake Middle School. Through these clubs, students refurbish computers with Linux to donate to families in need. A 2021 Minnesota Teacher of the Year semifinalist and winner of the MSU 2017 Distinguished Humanitarian Award, Keroff also wrote "The Linux Club Guide" and "Linux Lessons for Kids" to help schools implement student-led technology programs using open-source software.
