The observed life: what I learned building dashboards for fun

In this talk, I’ll share what I learned by turning my interests from everyday life into dashboards. From monitoring home climate data to tracking a mortgage burn-down chart and even visualizing video game performance stats, I’ll walk through a handful of fun dashboards that started as personal hobbies and the lessons I learned along the way.

Beyond the demos, I’ll also focus on practical tips for dashboard development to help you go from “I have an idea” to something that works. We’ll see open source tools like Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Home Assistant, and how AI can actually be useful for helping out.
